Head Practice

Some head practice! Like I've said I've been kind of hitting a block with my lack of skill in drawing heads to I decided to do some practice focusing on the head, not a deep dive or anything I'll probably do more study later this is more hanging out in the pool. For the first two pictures I did quick drawings of heads referenced from real photos of course each for about a minute, save for the ones I forgot to time, just to get a general grasp on the overall shapes and see where I'm at. Most of these are actually the same people twice, one where I referenced them facing straight on and another at another angle.
The next three images are drawing the Asaro head, i used this model for reference because I felt studying it was the best way for me to improve. I spent a whole day look at head drawing related videos and such and I obviously knew of different techniques but most go over the Loomis head and I don't find those particularly helpful. Not just cause it's beginner type stuff and I'm past that but also whenever they start talking about measurements and stuff I'm like huh? what? "drop the chin by 2/3rds" this means nothing to me. I might also look at Steve Huston and Reilly at some point see what fits best for me but just Asaro for now. Last image is the three studies I did but without the traced lines to make them easier to see.
Also yes I did switch brushes after the first one, originally I was using my old pal the fill-in-mono since I felt my current typical brush would be too distracting but I don't know I kinda wasn't feeling it and I decided to try out a new pen I downloaded and I really like how it looks and it made me feel better while drawing haha. I'm still a thick line believer but I think for study like this the thin lines work well for it.
I'm planning on doing more art practice like this for the next couple days. I don't know how much it'll help sometimes I feel like I never absorb my study info when I go to draw normal (nevermind I don't know my artstyle yet i've just been drawing without any distinct intent), but it's still good to practice and I'm sure it is helping even if I may not notice it right away. The piece I'm planning on has a time limit so it's not gonna wait on me finding my artstyle and I need head practice (also other once I actually figure out what I want to draw) for it so wanted to get more familiar.
